Corporate Attorney
Kwame was admitted to the Bar in 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, with Honours, which he obtained from the University of the West Indies. He completed his legal education training with the Norman Manley Law School. Kwame also holds a Master of Laws degree with Distinction. This latter degree focused on corporate and commercial law and public law.
Kwame, who is a former Deputy Trustee in Bankruptcy, maintains a diverse practice to include Corporate and Commercial Law, Commercial Litigation, Civil Litigation, Maritime Law, Industrial Relations, Administrative Law and Constitutional Law.
Kwame has issued Request For Proposals (RFPs) and managed the tender process for a variety of large companies. He has conducted due diligence exercises for major industrial players and acted as Counsel in several joint venture PPPs, corporate mergers and acquisitions.
Maritime Law
As a maritime law practitioner he has represented P & I Clubs, ship owners, ship operators and port operators. He is currently Counsel for some of the largest shipping lines operating in the Caribbean region. In this regard his practice includes the handling of marine incidents, the mortgaging and sale of vessels and maritime litigation.
Employment Law
As one of the leading labour law Attorneys-at-Law in Jamaica Kwame, has a robust employment and industrial relations practice and has advised several leading hotels and manufacturing and distribution companies on issues relating to employment law and redundancy exercises. In that practice, he has won significant victories at the Industrial Disputes Tribunal, the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. He also conducts industrial relations law training for large commercial clients and private interest groups.
Kwame is also an Infantry Officer in the Jamaica Defence Force’s National Reserve and currently serves at the rank of Major.
